Greenviews Resort in El Nido

The absolute best spot in El Nido!!

I think the picture explains it all! This resort is so beautiful!

Greenviews is located in the beautiful El Nido region of the Palawan Province. It provides stunning beachfront cottages in Corong-Corong which is roughly 3kms from the main town of El Nido.

Greenviews also offers all of the infamous tours around the archipelago. This was the main reason we came to El Nido. We highly recommend using Greenviews for all the tours (A,B,C & D). El Nido has set the prices for the tours so no bargaining is needed. It was such a pleasure to wake up and walk straight out on to the sand to our awaiting guide and banca boat.

The resort offers photographic opportunities at every corner and is close to the main local market and other useful stores (scooter hire, bottle stores, restaurants etc).

The Resort

The upstairs section of the restaurant provides stunning sunset views and cocktails. In the picture below you can see the islands (Big Lagoon etc) are right in front of the resort. The resort also has a generator so we almost always had wifi and air-con (even during a typhoon).

You also have the option to sit on the beach and order either from the full menu or from the braai/grill. They often have live music and entertainment so the restaurant always has a great vibe.

They have a very large menu with everything, from the most traditional Filipino dishes to regular pizzas and burgers. We recommend the curries!!

They have hammocks to read in and canoes and tanning beds available to all guests. There is also a “beach spa” next door where we enjoyed a couples massage after a long day exploring the islands.

The beach is amazing to look at and to cool off in!! However it is very shallow for at least 50 metres out so we recommend swimming at Las Cabanas beach next door. There are also a few sea urchins so definitely pack boat shoes (especially for the excursions).

The Room

December 2015: We stayed in the ‘Double Cottage Number 7′ which is just behind the front cottage and we paid 2200 Pesos per night. The room has a double bed, ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning and a balcony with a table and two chairs. The staff clean your room daily and have a water bucket on the stairs so you can get the sand off your feet (so thoughtful). We personally wouldn’t pay more to get a front cottage as we found ourselves relaxing at the open beach restaurant area and never at our own balcony, so having a good view from our balcony wasn’t necessary.

A word of warning: They are fully booked months in advance, so this is not the place to stay if you are on a spontaneous trip. It is honestly worth the planning in advance!!

If you stay here you will definitely have a cocktail or two with the owner, Dave and his wife, Tina. We already loved Dave even before we arrived because he is so efficient and responsive to emails.

Long story short, he is obsessed with butterflies !! He moved to the Philippines because it is one of the most populated areas for different butterfly species. The resort is filled with the most stunning butterflies because he has planted all of the specific plants needed to draw them in. He even bought land in nearby areas in order to protect the butterfly breeding grounds from tourist infrastructure. How amazing ?!!

In short, the resort is an exotic garden providing rustic but clean beach cottages and the best sunset views.
